Paths and Walkways

A Ceremonial Path is inspired by traditional architecture of Africa. Paths and walkways, whether they be real or implied, are very important elements in traditional African architecture. A Ceremonial Path, alludes to a time in human history when important ceremonies took place in a clearing where a path may have been cleared to create an effective approach to the main event. In this case, I have used spears tipped with arrowheads to suggest trees. Other sculptures in the series such as Zig Zag Path, Trail of Fire and Ancestral Trail also reference ceremony and ritual, whereas, Village Path and Spiral Walkway suggest dramatic approaches to a special communal space.
